As a former beauty editor (who still occasionally writes about beauty), I’m the go-to person in my friend group for makeup, skincare, and hair recommendations. 

So with the Sephora Beauty sale quickly approaching (it starts on 10/27 for Rouge members and 10/31 for VIBs and Insiders), I wanted to share my top picks here—all of which are gluten-free.

Now, if you have celiac disease, it’s worth noting that you don’t have to overhaul your entire beauty routine. Gluten can’t be absorbed through the skin and the only way to have a reaction is by ingesting gluten.

Therefore, the only products you should confirm are gluten-free are those you put on your lips, such as lipstick, lip gloss, and lip balm.

That said, those with a wheat allergy may react to topical gluten application from cosmetics. Additionally, some people with celiac disease prefer to keep their entire beauty routine gluten-free for peace of mind.

Personally, I don’t worry about beauty products except for ones that go on my lips. After all, I’m not eating my sunscreen, shampoo, or eyeliner—and I have plenty of other things to stress about while navigating celiac disease.
