The Best Gluten-Free Food in Williamsburg, Brooklyn
My favorite places to eat in this trendy New York City neighborhood
Williamsburg is one of my favorite neighborhoods in New York City due to the abundance of gluten-free eats. There are also lots of other hip businesses in the area—I’ve been getting my hair cut and colored at a cute little salon there for the past decade and will make the journey from Queens just to take classes at a popular Pilates studio and peruse the racks at all of the stylish vintage shops.
To celebrate my birthday last month, I decided to do a weekend staycation in Williamsburg at a trendy hotel, complete with an afternoon at a rooftop pool, a mood-boosting dance cardio workout, a non-toxic mani/pedi, and tons of great gluten-free food along the way. Ahead, I’m sharing my foodie itinerary.

Just a quick note: Not every establishment on this list is dedicated gluten-free. Everyone has different comfort levels when dining out with celiac disease, so always do what works best for you and know that cross-contact is possible at non-dedicated businesses. Check out my celiac dining guide for more information on how to order food safely.
Matchaful
All of Matchaful’s drinks are gluten-free, plus they serve up housemade gluten-free pastries as well as baked goods from Sixteen Mill, a dedicated gluten-free bakery in Gowanus.
After dropping off my luggage at the Hoxton Hotel and working out at 305 Fitness, I got the Matchaful x Addison Rae summer special, containing mango puree, oishii strawberry pure, blue spirulina-infused coconut milk, and matcha coconut foam. I also had a piece of housemade gluten-free pistachio rose cardamom cake.

Reforesters Laboratory
After fueling up with matcha, I headed over to Lili and Cata for a mani/pedi. On my walk back to the hotel post-nail appointment, I stumbled upon Reforesters Laboratory, which had a sign out front advertising a gluten-free café. Naturally, I had to stop in for a quick bite.
I picked up a seasonal gluten-free corn muffin with ramps, and it was pretty tasty. I definitely want to come back in the future to check out some of the classes and workshops here!

Uzuki
I’ve been wanting to try Uzuki—a dedicated gluten-free soba noodle restaurant in Greenpoint—since it opened in 2023. On night one of my staycation, a friend treated me for a delicious dinner here, and it was a highlight of my weekend.
We shared a few appetizers, including the soba crackers, Shojin style sticky vegetables, and crispy unagi cucumber salad (the best of the bunch, IMO). I had Uzuki soba salad (a cold, vegetarian dish) as my main, along with a refreshing yuzu mocktail. For dessert, we shared soba ice cream.

Align Coffee/Crepe Master
The next morning, I took a 25-minute stroll to Align Coffee/Crepe Master, a dedicated gluten-free spot, for breakfast. I picked up a bacon, egg, and cheese crepe (with jalapeño mayo), and it kept me full for most of the day. I’d love to try one of the sweet crepes next time!

Pura Vida Miami
My bestie joined me in the afternoon for the rest of my staycation, and I took her to Pura Vida Miami, a chic Miami-based chain that recently opened in New York City (including in Williamsburg), for lunch.
I was still full from breakfast, but I ordered the Coco Azul smoothie, featuring coconut water, banana, pineapple, mango, blue spirulina, collagen protein, hemp seed, and shaved coconut. Pura Vida Miami has many gluten-free food options, and staff is trained to ask about allergies when you order.

Nami Nori
Nami Nori is one of my all-time favorite restaurants, so I knew I wanted to dine there during my birthday weekend. This gluten-free sushi spot serves up temaki-style rolls and other Japanese-inspired delights, like furikake fries and spicy tuna dip.
So, after spending the afternoon chilling by the rooftop pool at the Arlo Williamsburg, my friend and I walked over here for dinner. We shared calamari fritto as an appetizer, then we each did the make your own set of tamaki rolls. They had a couple of special summer rolls, including BBQ toro, which we both ordered. For dessert, we shared another summer special, the peach panna cotta.

Laser Wolf
On day three, we went back to Pura Vida for caffeinated beverages, then made our way to the rooftop of the Hoxton Hotel for a much-anticipated brunch at Laser Wolf. This Israeli restaurant serves up meats cooked over a charcoal grill—and almost everything on the menu (asside from the pita bread) is gluten-free.
How it works: Each guest orders a meat, and then you get unlimited mezze (aka salatim) to share. We ordered chicken and spicy lamb meatballs as our proteins, while the salatim that day included things like pickles, potatoes, cabbage slaw, and the best hummus ever (I got served a plate of fresh cucumber slices instead of pita bread to dip).
Laser Wolf: 97 Wythe Ave
