10 Gluten-Free Recipes You Need to Try This Summer
A season full of delicious food, coming right up.
I’ll admit it: I’m not super-creative in the kitchen. I tend to cook a lot of the same basic gluten-free meals over and over again. (You can check out my kitchen essentials for gluten-free cooking here.)
That mostly works for me, but sometimes it does get boring. So this season, I want to challenge myself and incorporate some new recipes into my regular rotation to bring some excitement back into my meals.
If you’re anything like me, though, then you probably get overwhelmed by all of the choices available in cookbooks and on recipe websites. Luckily, a few of my favorite gluten-free writers here on Substack send out new recipes and meal plans every week in their newsletters—which, IMO, is much more manageable to scroll through than hundreds of pages in a cookbook.
Ahead, I’ve pulled a few of their recipes that are perfect for the season. Whether you’re looking for gluten-free breakfast, lunch, dinner, or dessert ideas, I’ve got you covered.
10 best gluten-free recipes for summer
1. High Protein Breakfast Bowl, courtesy of
How many times have we all been told breakfast is the most important meal of the day? This gluten-free breakfast bowl is simple (no fancy cooking equipment needed!) and packed with protein.
2. Gluten-Free Monkey Bread, courtesy of
I had monkey bread for the first time ever last year at Posh Pop Bakeshop, a gluten-free bakery in New York City, and I was hooked. ICYMI, monkey bread is a Hungarian yeasted coffee cake made in a bundt pan.
3. Greek Salad With Za'atar Chicken, courtesy of
Sometimes, I just don’t want to turn on my oven in the heat of summer. Enter this light and refreshing Greek salad, complete with Za’atar-seasoned chicken for serious flavor.
4. Sourdough Skillet Pizza, courtesy of
This gluten-free pizza recipe also doesn’t require you to turn on your oven. The crust is made with gluten-free sourdough discard, and it’s all prepared in a skillet.
5. Chili Lime Flat Iron Steak, courtesy of
Summer is the season for grilling—and really, there’s nothing better to throw on a grill than a juicy steak. This flat iron steak kicks things up a notch with an Ancho chili powder seasoning and spicy ranch dip.
6. Gluten-Free Graham Crackers, courtesy of
S’mores are one of my favorite summer desserts—but not all gluten-free graham crackers are equal. A lot of store-bought options instantly break and crumble, so I’m going to make these instead!
7. 7-Minute Risotto, courtesy of
I eat a lot of rice (a naturally gluten-free grain)—and this quick risotto featuring pink rice(!!!) looks like such a fun upgrade to my go-to side.
8. BBQ Veggie Burgers, courtesy of
I love veggie burgers, especially ones made with sweet potato. This BBQ veggie burger can be baked, grilled, or pan-fried. Now I just have to find the perfect gluten-free bun to go with it!
9. Chocolate Pudding, courtesy of
A chilled dessert that requires no baking and hardly any cleanup? Sign me up for this easy chocolate pudding that’s both gluten-free and vegan.
10. Lemon Roasted Salmon, courtesy of
I’m a big fan of salmon, especially in the summer. This recipe involves virtually no prep and seems very fresh and flavorful, so it’s bound to become one of my summer staples.

Great list. Thanks Christina. You also can’t go wrong with a throwing a steak on the BBQ with some homemade chimmichurri, and grilled vegetables tossed in some goat cheese.
